The End of the Games ’13

It’s been an amazing month for virtual sports in I am Learning! We’re currently gathering stats and information that I know you’re gonna love, but for now, here are the overall winners of the games. A special mention should go to St. Cuthbert’s school. Not only did they win the overall best school, they also have pupils in first and third! Well done!

We want to thank everyone for taking part. We hope you enjoyed the event! There’ll be more events in the future, and keep checking back to see some really cool stats about usage!

New games!

You may have seen our ‘coming soon’ post last week. Well, as promised, here are two new games! Check below for some more information about ‘Goals of Glory’ and for ‘Car Tune 2’.

GOALS OF GLORY

  • This game has three difficulty levels. On easy, the opposition player will not move closer than the halfway line. Hard mode means the opponent will be faster, jump higher and have better reactions.
  • The teams don’t have an effect on gameplay, they’re just a way to show your favourite!
  • High scores are saved if you beat your previous best. The score is calculated as your goals, minus their goals. So if you scored 20 goals over all 4 matches, and they scored 8, your final score would be 12.
  • Get used to the exact height your player jumps. This will make it so much easier to anticipate attacks.

CAR TUNE 2
  • There are over 2,000,000 combinations in this game!
  • Both cars are modeled after real world cars. can you guess what they are?
  • At the end of the quiz, you can print out your creation to show your friends!
  • Perfect if you’ve exhausted the options in the original Car Tune.
  • If you like this game, make sure to unlock the original too!

We hope you like these new games. They’re already getting hundreds of plays, and I reckon ‘Goals of Glory’ is going to be our most popular game ever!

Upcoming games preview!

Our upcoming football game!

Car Tune 2: The long awaited sequel

It’s been a while since the last games we’ve released, so here’s a preview of the next two. We think they’re going to be really popular. Car Tune is one of our top played design games, so we’re really excited to release a follow up!

Penalty Shootout is our most popular game, so we’ve been wanting to release another football game for ages. We think this one is going to be massively popular too. It’s a 1 v 1 take on the beautiful game. You choose your favourite team from 20 available, then head out to the pitch. The more questions you get right, the more time you get to play. There’s also 3 difficulty levels to suit beginners, right up to seasoned veterans!

These games are only days away (hopefully) and we’re sure you’ll love them! Keep checking back to see how we’re doing, and when they’re out, we’ll post a handy hints and tips guide so you can get straight to the top of the league!

Complicated maths…

In the office this week we have been mostly using… Trigonometry! For those of you who want to become games developers, or something similar, take note! Maths is used in all aspects of gaming, from simple score addition, to complex collision detection and physics.

What game do YOU think we’re making right now? We think it’s going to be our most popular game yet, and we can’t wait to show off some screenshots when they’re ready! Check back soon to see!

New Game: Mach-1 Moles!

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this…”

For those of you who have played Eeny-Meeny Mining Moles, you’ll already know that the moles who work there have a somewhat… unconventional attitude to work. They’ve now come up with the idea that the best way to collect precious gemstones, is to fly around caves with a jet-pack!

  • Mach 1 Moles is the second game to feature the moles who work at the Eeny-Meeny Mining Company.
  • Based on classic spaceship landing games like Lunar Lander and Gravitron.
  • Landing on the platform at the end of each level will double your score.
  • Try to collect the diamonds and gold bars, as they are worth the most points.
  • The game stores your highest score!

New Halloween game!

  • Zap-a-Bat is the second of our Halloween games, the first being Grave Danger which was released in 2011.
  • This is the first I am Learning game to offer multiple difficulties.
  • Players should start off in easy mode and have fun without the pressure of losing all their points. This mode may also be more suitable for younger players.
  • Hard mode, while offering the lure of more points is far more punishing, as clicking on a Faerie will reset all your Faeries back to bats!
  • You should focus on the slower bats. Chasing after one bat for a long time will always result in fewer points!
  • The game stores your highest score!

A Short Message From The iamDroid!

The following is a friendly greeting! (Go easy on him, he’s new! Also he’s a robot.)

— Begin communication: GREETINGS HUMANS. I AM THE IAMDROID. I HAVE HEARD MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LEAVING MULTIPLAYER GAMES BEFORE THEY ARE COMPLETE. THIS DOES NOT COMPUTE! I HAVE DECIDED TO STEP IN AND HELP YOU FINISH A GAME, EVEN IF YOUR HUMAN OPPONENT QUITS! HOPEFULLY THIS MEANS YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE FUN IN THE GAMES! I AM PROGRAMMED TO LOVE FUN! — End communication.

Thanks iamDroid… So now that means that if you are playing a multiplayer game and your opponent leaves, you can still play through to the end and get a high score!

Welcome back!

We hope you’ve all had a good summer! It’s almost term time, and we know most of you are on your way back to school! We also know many of you are wanting to know what’s new in I am Learning. Luckily, I’m here to tell you!

Our biggest and most exciting new feature is, of course, our multiplayer games. We’ve launched with three, and we’re working hard to make loads more! Best news of all, the three launch titles are FREE! So why wait? Start playing today! We’re all playing them in the IAL Headquarters. Maybe you’ll get the chance to play against a developer!

We’ve also added many new single player games, ranging from table-top sports to arcade classics. There’s also a returning favourite – Darts!

Another new games feature is the addition of level packs, and themed versions of existing games. Block Breaker was very popular last year, so we’ve added a new winter themed version of Block Breaker. There’s also a retro themed version of our new Invaders game. These are currently half price at only 100 credits!

Another huge new feature is our Iamable Shop. You can now use your credits to buy new items, hairstyles, accessories and loads more. We’ve added loads of new items too, most of which you suggested to us, so take a look! There’s bound to be loads you like the look of!

There’s loads more, so have a look around. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below, or on our Facebook page!
